Abstract

|
Activities of alpha and glue-amylases were determined during the differentiation of Aspergillus niger which had been cultured on the surface of Czapeck-Dox liquid medium. The results obtained are as follows ;
1. Activities of alpha-amylase began to increase from the beginning of sporulation, and its activity continued for a long time through the sporulation. It seemed that catabolite .repression was acting on the alpha-amylase production in glucose containing medium.
2. Alpha-amylase was proved to be a constitutic enzyme since it was produced in Czapeck-Dox medium in which starch was not involved.
3. Activity of glue-amylase increased very fast during the maturation of phialide, and the . peak of activity was shown in this developmental stage. Production of glue-amylase was coincident with phialide formation sequentially and glue-amylase production was seemed not affected by catabolite repression of glucose.
